Lisa Katz
Professional Learning Cadre Member, CAST

Lisa is currently a member of the Professional Learning Cadre for UDL at the Center for Applied Special Technologies. Lisa holds a BA in History Education from the University of Delaware and a MLS from University of Maryland, College Park. She is currently an instructional technology specialist for Howard County Public Schools where she works with teachers and curriculum specialists to redesign curriculum for digital delivery, online instructional design, and infusing UDL and technology into professional development opportunities and curricular materials. In addition to her work in the state of Maryland, Lisa has worked closely with members of CAST's Professional Learning Division and through CAST, districts throughout the U.S. promoting and facilitating workshops on UDL.

Liz Berquist
Professional Learning Cadre Member, CAST

Dr. Liz Berquist is a faculty member in the Department of Special Education at Towson University in Maryland. Prior to joining the faculty at TU, Dr. Berquist was employed by the Baltimore County Public School system as a middle school and high school social studies educator, special educator and central office curriculum and instruction staff member. Liz has been a member of the CAST UDL faculty cadre since 2011. In this role, she has traveled across the United States working with school districts and institutes of higher education, she also served as a UDL Facilitator for the Gates Foundation UDL implementation project. Dr. Berquist holds certifications in social studies, special education and administration. She received a BA in American Studies and History from Washington College, a Master's Degree in Special Education from Towson University, a Certificate in Administration and Supervision from Goucher College and a doctoral degree in Instructional Technology from Towson University. Liz has served as a consultant for the Maryland State Department of Education and is currently a member of MSDE's SWIFT schools leadership team that will work with researchers from the University of Kansas to create more inclusive opportunities for all learners.
